Position Description

We have one full-time job opening as either an employee or on a contractual basis for either a Family Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant working between two rural health clinics. The two clinics are located, one each in Mamou (Evangeline Parish) and Oakdale (Allen Parish). The time will be divided between the two clinics. On Mondays, prospective employee will have to work at both clinics. Our offices are open from Mondays through Thursdays, 8-5, and on Fridays from 8.30 to 1.00 pm.
- Currently, there is no requirement to take any call.

- Both clinics are conveniently located opposite the emergency rooms of two separate rural hospitals.
- Clinics will pay for malpractice insurance & licenses, within reason.
This job works in a collaborative model under the supervision of the Medical Director and assumes responsibility for primary and urgent medical management, patient education and discharge planning, and in very rare occasion emergency stabilization of critically ill patients.

Work Experience
Required – 0
Preferred : 3 years’ related working experience
: Obstetrics and Gynecology work related experience
Education & Certification Requirements
Nurse Practitioner:
Master’s or Doctorate degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Required – Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist by either AACN or ANCC
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
Eligible for participation in Medicare and Louisiana Medicaid
Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing
Physician Assistant:
Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program.
Required – Current license as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certified
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
Eligible for participation in Medicare and Louisiana Medicaid
Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at a practice level.
- Reliable transportation.
Job Duties
- Understands the requirements necessary to maintain the rural health clinic standing.
- Utilizes the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care.
- Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
- Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes and may develop research methodology.
- Provides education experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and to the community.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws regarding accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to rural health clinics and the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
- Must maintain and comply with employer’s Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, which includes immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct.
- Must maintain, comply and preserve patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns as they relate to employer specific standards.
