At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Outline how the social determinants of health uniquely impact healthcare delivery in Puerto Rico and identify Puerto Rico’s colony status as a social determinant of health
- Summarize the inequities in healthcare and reimbursement infrastructure in Puerto Rico
- Identify specific disparities in delivery of healthcare in Puerto Rico and the impact on individuals and communities
- Recognize the proper Spanish translation for Physician Associate as Asociado Médico and why this is relevant in Puerto Rico
- Explain the current status of PA-Cs in Puerto Rico and the legislative changes needed to implement practice
- Demonstrate the current status of PA-Cs in Puerto Rico, describe what groundbreaking educational opportunities have commenced, outline the legislative efforts to establish the accurate profession, and demonstrate how Asociados Médicos will expand access to healthcare to those most in need.
