This training aims to provide the Physician Assistant with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage epilepsy using the latest classification system, ILAE effectively. The PA will learn to distinguish between focal onset and generalized epilepsy, implement appropriate treatment, and identify possible seizure-like events that mimic seizures. By the end of the training, the PA will be equipped to provide comprehensive care to patients with epilepsy.

Objectives:

  1. The PA will learn about the new classification for epilepsy: ILAE (InternaBonal League Against Epilepsy).
  2. The PA will be able to discriminate findings for focal onset vs. generalized epilepsy.
  3. The PA will be able to implement appropriate treatment for focal vs. generalized epilepsy.
  4. The PA will be able to formulate a list of possible seizure-like events that mimic seizures.

This activity has been reviewed by the AAPA Review Panel and is compliant with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid from 3/30/2023 to 3/30/2023 . PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation. AAPA reference number: CME-209075.
